French Onion Pie

Onion pie is a very appetizing dish. It is prepared with either yeast or puff pastry. The main filling is fried onions, as well as cheese, eggs and sour cream are added to the dish as a filling. This pie will delight you with its crispy crust and very flavorful filling!


Ingredients

For dough

Flour - 200 gr.
Butter - 100 gr.
Salt - a pinch
Water - 2-3 tbsp.

For the filling

Onions - 4 pcs. (large)
Butter - 50 gr.
Salt, black pepper - to taste.

For the filling

Egg - 2 pcs.
Cream - 200 gr.
Cheese - 100 gr.

Preparing

Prepare the dough. Sift flour and salt through a sieve, chop butter into pieces. Combine the flour and butter and chop everything into crumbs with a food processor.

We add water and gather the crumbs into a ball.

While the dough is resting, prepare the filling. Peel the onion, wash under cold running water and cut into half rings, which in turn cut in half again.

Melt the butter in a pan and send it to the onion. Fry the onion until golden. Remove from heat.

Prepare the filling. Grate cheese.

Beat eggs with a whisk and cream to a homogeneous mass. Add the cheese.

Grease baking dish with butter.

Take the dough out of the fridge, roll out a circle a little larger than the diameter of the mold (taking into account the rims). And carefully transfer it to the form. Smooth it.

Put onions on the dough, and pour the filling on top.

Send to the oven for 40-45 minutes at 180C.

Take the finished pie out of the oven, let it cool completely, and then serve it with herbal tea or white wine.
